June 2, 2008: Nisku 'Super' Store opens for business

For some time, Commercial Solutions has been working to build a "one-of-a-kind super store" in the heartland of the oilfield sector - Nisku, Alberta.

Effective June 2, 2008 this effort has come to fruition with the opening of our all new 55,000 square foot 'super' store. The new facility consolidates the operations of all of our Nisku locations, including Commercial Solutions (Commercial Bearing), Commercial Solutions Safety (Nisku Safety), Rig Products, and Cando Oilfield Supplies and Rentals. These operations have been merged as "Commercial Solutions" into the new state-of-the-art facility at 2714 - 5th Street Nisku, AB T9E 0H1, Tel.: (780) 955-7494. This facility is the first of its kind to service all facets of the oilfield industry by combining all of our expertise under one roof.

Under the direction of General Manager Greg Berg, this new location will provide a one-stop solution for all Oilfield, Safety, Industrial, Service and Repair needs. One phone call, one purchase order, one invoice, one delivery. Customers will no longer need to deal with vendors at different locations and separate billing. With an on-site fall protection training facility, an oilfield safety equipment, service and repair group, the oilfield products our customers rely on, and a central location, we're prepared to service our customers like never before.

February 5, 2008: Oilfield Products Increase Growth in High Level

It may be -45C outside, but High Level Branch Manager James Connellan has escaped the January blues. As the Raeside Equipment location for Northern Alberta, Commercial Solutions' High Level branch specialized in bearings and power transmission products. Selling parts for logging equipment and lumber mills was the backbone of the business – until Canada's forestry sector took a hard hit from the US economic slowdown.

With the rise of the Canadian dollar and the decline of the US housing market, many of Commercial's traditional customers in High Level have scaled back business or shut down entirely. "The branch had to diversify," says James, "We couldn't survive on our existing lumber customers."

When the branch was acquired by Commercial Solutions in 2006, employees welcomed the chance to broaden their existing inventory with safety and industrial products. Now, with the help of another Commercial Solutions company, Rig Products Oilfield Supply, High Level is building a completely new customer base.

Since the 1960's, the Community of High Level has been a service hub for oilfield activity in northwestern Alberta. Since December 2007, Commercial Solutions High Level has been working closely with Concord Well Servicing to accommodate their supply requirements. Concord currently operates nine service rigs in the High Level area.

Supplying consumable items for oilfield services companies is new territory for the branch. The staff at High Level is learning the products as they go, and James appreciates the support he's received from all Rig Products employees while introducing the new product line.

The branch has also gotten tremendous support from clientele in the area. According to James, "Concord has been very helpful. They've been explaining what they need and they're very willing to work with us."

Other local companies are equally enthusiastic about the new product offering. A number of oilfield equipment rental shops and testing companies in High Level have expressed a strong interest in obtaining consumable items from Commercial Solutions.

In the near future, with further assistance from Rig Products and Commercial Solutions' entire Oilfield Division (Impact Oilfield Supply and Cando Oilfield Supply), drilling supplies will be inventoried in High Level. This will help service areas such as Manning and Chinchaga and service areas to the North.

With the branch in growth mode, James is looking at other local opportunities to expand the business. Under his direction, the branch will become the only business in town to offer safety equipment servicing capabilities. The branch will also continue to expand its customer base for safety and industrial products.

Forget the cold weather – High Level is moving full steam ahead!

Commercial Solutions would like to thank James and his staff for the effort and hard work they have done to integrate the oilfield supplies into the High Level area. This format will be used as a "template" to introduce oilfield supplies in other Commercial Branches, in order to meet our customer demands.

Commercial Solutions is proud to team up with Total Fire Group and MSA to help support The Fire Within Foundation. The Fire Within has been raising money for volunteer firefighting departments for 4 years. Two volunteer firefighters will be camping on the roof of the Leduc Canadian Tire from October 5 to October 7 to kick off Fire Prevention Week. They won't be coming off the roof until they've sold at least 3000 calendars to help raise money for the Calmar Fire Department.

Join us to cheer on the boys on Friday, Saturday or Sunday! Muscular Dystrophy will be hosting a fundraising barbeque on site on Saturday from 11 am to 7 pm. The Leduc and Calmar Fire Departments will be showing off their fire trucks and equipment throughout the weekend, and there will be live on location broadcasts by K-Rock on Saturday, October 6 from 1 to 5 pm.

September 17, 2007: Prince George Branch Merge Complete

The Prince George branches of Raeside Equipment and Commercial Solutions are now one, having merged on Sept. 17, 2007. Commercial Solutions now occupies the Raeside Equipment location at 1977 Ogilvie St., Prince George BC. The new store will be a true one-stop shop for every level of industry. Its expanded product range includes everything from bearings and power transmission products to forestry tools and mineral exploration equipment.

August 22, 2007: Commercial Solutions receives OSSA Accreditation

Commercial Solutions is pleased to announce that it has received OSSA (Oil Sands Safety Association) accreditation for its Fall Protection Training Program. Sr. Fall Protection Specialist Jerry Jarvis and Fall Protection Specialist Brad Whitteker will deliver Commercial's OSSA Fall Protection courses. "Putting the Fall Protection Program together was hard work," says Jarvis, "I know we've got some of the best material in the industry. Our training will save lives."

Commercial Solutions has classrooms and complete fall protection training facilities at its branches in Edmonton and Fort McMurray. August 2nd, 2007: Regina Branch Move

We are excited to announce the opening of our new location in Regina. On he August long weekend, the Commercial Solutions Regina branch moved down the street to 664 Henderson Drive. Staff in Regina are excited about the new 8000 square foot warehouse and the improved layout of the retail space. Regina manager Mike Kozey is looking forward to welcoming you to the new store.
